Now that you have successfully germinated your cannabis seeds, you can plant them wherever you want. However, it is important to note that your medium of choice should have the ideal pH that will support the growth of the marijuana seeds. In addition, the conditions that you provide for the seeds to germinate are not the same ones that you will adopt when planting the seeds.
Conducting the planting process
The procedure adopted in planting cannabis seeds will vary depending on whether the seeds have been germinated or are being planted directly. However, the conditions for growth will remain the same. So, what is the best procedure to follow when planting marijuana seeds?
- Find the best soil with the ideal nutrients to support the growth of the cannabis seeds.
- Once you have found the right soil, slightly press it down and make a ½ inch hole using a pencil or your fingers.
- If you are planting seeds that have not undergone the germination process, use the easiest method which is to place the seed horizontally inside the hole. On the other hand, if you are using already germinated seeds, place the seed in a vertical position inside the hole. Upon placing the seeds in the hole and in the recommended positions, fill the hole with soil and tap down the soil gently.
- Use water that doesn’t contain chlorine. The best water to use is that with a pH of 6-6.5. In addition, avoid using tap water unless you are sure that it contains the recommended pH levels. Most importantly, avoid using a lot of water. The soil should only be dump and not overwatered.
- Ensure that the growth area has a temperature of 75 degrees F or higher. Anything below that will derail the growth of your weed.
The seedlings should appear out of the soil within 3-7 days. When the first seedling appears, it is safe to switch on the lamps to provide warmth.
What to avoid when planting the cannabis seeds
There are lots of factors that would derail the growth process or kill the seedlings. Here are some of the things to avoid:
- Humidity
- Fertilizing the seedlings
- Covering the growing pots with plastic
- Too much or little water
- Cold or dark growth area
- Wrong pH in the water and poor water quality
- Using chemicals on the seedlings
- Using the wrong soil
- In hydroponics, avoid a high EC of nutrient solution
Growing weed might seem to be a very simple activity. However, it requires you to put all factors into consideration in order to enjoy the best results. That said, nothing should now hinder you from enjoying the best flavoured and quality weed!
